5K at the Modesto Marathon
Today my friend Stacey and I awoke a little earlier than we would have normally done on a Sunday to run a race. We went to the very impressive Modesto Marathon where runners were lined up at 7 am to start their 26.2 mile run! I give everyone so much credit for running that kind of distance! I've never seen a marathon start before, and I have to say I was amazed by all the participants. I guess this was a qualifying race for the Boston Marathon. In fact there was a sign posted saying "If you aren't able to finish the marathon within 7 hours, please consider running the 1/2 marathon."
Stacey and I were a little more realistic with our expectations and took a stab at the 5 K. We split after the first quarter mile or so. I hadn't been training for this race, so my goal was to finish without stopping and needing medical assistance. My goal was accomplished, and although I added almost 2 minutes to my time from September I still finished under 30 minutes. This only gives me something to strive for on April 10Th! I just got to stick with it and keep active! Thanks Stacey for keeping me company, loved the after race goodies too!
Results Females 40-49
I ended up coming in 136 of 682 runners overall and in my age class 9 of 97. My official final time 29:33

Girls Night Out "Prom 2010"
Who says you have to be in high school to celebrate Prom Night? Obviously, we don't! What a blast this night was. For under $30 most of us were able to pull of some sort of rendition of prom night! The gowns, tiaras, and glitzy jewels were abundant and definitely worth it. We had a limo take us out for 3 hours around Modesto and Manteca. We made a couple pit stops to make our entrances! We also had an appointment with the Picture People in the mall so we took professional pictures to capture our great night. Daniele was Prom Queen for the night and did very well with her "expecting self"!! What a crack up. Peoples' heads turned as fast as you could say what the? when she started dancing on the dance floor at a local watering hole! This is one of those nights that will go down in history ladies. Thanks for a FABULOUS night, definitely going to be hard to top this one! What will we think of next???

May I "honor roll" Morgan please?
Morgan and her friends made honor roll for the second trimester. Morgan received recognition at the awards assembly for her 4.0 and a "Character Counts" award. We are so proud of all your hard work in school. Believe me one day it will really pay off! Great job Mo and to all your friends too!

Sports Update February 27, 2010
Well all good things must come to an end and unfortunately for both my kids it came rapidly true this weekend. Our undefeated Arsenal won both games on Saturday which left us thinking there was a good chance for advancement. On Sunday we were sadly defeated by Atwater 2-0 which knocked us out of contention for any further games. The girls after having a 2 month winning streak finally took defeat. The team still walked away with their heads held high as they know they played a fantastic season all the way through! We are so proud of the 2010 Arsenal All Star team. We ended our fantastic season with a pizza party at John's Incredible Pizza. Mom forgot her camera so still waiting for pictures to post from this. Great job ladies, we are so all very proud of your commitment to the game. Each girl plays with their heart as our Coach always said, and it truly showed every time they want on the field. Looking forward to coaching Spring soccer and see where that takes us next! I love you Mo and love watching you play and becoming a great soccer player.
The Mavericks went into tournament this weekend thinking that they may have had an opportunity to advance as well. The kids played very well defensively and the first 2 or 3 periods it looked very promising. Unfortunately, one of our better players wasn't there who we count on to make most of the baskets. Zach stepped up making quite a few of the baskets but we still came up short in the long run losing. We were unfortunately knocked out of the tournament. The boys learned so much during their short season and I know walked away becoming better ball players for it. We ended up our season with a pizza party at Mountain Mikes. This was a great group of kids and we thank Coach Rob and Gary for all their time they committed to the game and the kids. Thank you Dylan for your passion to play, we love watching you play ANY sport! We love you Mom and Dad and are looking very forward to baseball season!
