Dylan Debuts as Pitcher vs A's 3/27/10

Dylan had his first try at pitching in a game today vs the A's. He has been absolutely begging dad to put him in so Rob decided to let him get his feet wet! It's amazing that he can throw strikes with speed but when you place a batter in the box the game changes!! Dylan was nervous but hung in there. He ended up walking 3 batters and was taken out, but he didn't want to come out. He wants to eventually be a pitcher so Rob will invest the time to make sure he is better prepared. I have to give the kid credit for getting up there and trying it out. I told him I personally would have had to change my underpants cause I couldn't handle the pressure. I told Dylan I would put face paint on to cheer him on but that didn't work either! I know with his skills and tenacity he will be one day pitching strikes on the mound.

Boys get a night out!

Rob took Mitch, Brady and Dylan to John's Incredible Pizza for a little birthday fun on a week night! Boys were having a blast eating, playing video games and laser tag. I wish they could stay this age forever! What a great group of boys!

The Road to Wrestlemania

For Dylan's birthday we all went to Arco Arena to see WWE Smackdown. The kids including Rob new all the wrestlers, I was a little lost but they kept me up to speed. Some of the wrestlers who were in the ring Edge, Gold Dust, Chris Jericho, and Ezekiel Jackson. The two favorites were Ray Mysterio and Undertaker! After we went out for burgers at a 50's restaurant and played Michael Jackson songs, go figure! It was fun to spend some family time together, and Dylan got something he really wanted for his birthday!

Happy Birthday Dylan

Dylan turning 9? Where has the time has gone?? At 5'1" and 135 lbs. wearing a size 10 men shoe you could easily pass for a 6 th grader, but you are only 9 and in the 3rd grade!!!! You continually make us laugh everyday, even sometimes when you aren't suppose to, but that's ok. I love that you are a big kid with a sensitive side. You are the best friend anyone could ask for. We love you and love your ways! Happy BD Dylan!

5K at the Modesto Marathon

Today my friend Stacey and I awoke a little earlier than we would have normally done on a Sunday to run a race. We went to the very impressive Modesto Marathon where runners were lined up at 7 am to start their 26.2 mile run! I give everyone so much credit for running that kind of distance! I've never seen a marathon start before, and I have to say I was amazed by all the participants. I guess this was a qualifying race for the Boston Marathon. In fact there was a sign posted saying "If you aren't able to finish the marathon within 7 hours, please consider running the 1/2 marathon."

Stacey and I were a little more realistic with our expectations and took a stab at the 5 K. We split after the first quarter mile or so. I hadn't been training for this race, so my goal was to finish without stopping and needing medical assistance. My goal was accomplished, and although I added almost 2 minutes to my time from September I still finished under 30 minutes. This only gives me something to strive for on April 10Th! I just got to stick with it and keep active! Thanks Stacey for keeping me company, loved the after race goodies too!

Results Females 40-49

I ended up coming in 136 of 682 runners overall and in my age class 9 of 97. My official final time 29:33
