Dylan plays teacher for a day!!!

The theme for the week was, "You be the teacher for the day!" The students were allowed 15-20 minutes to demonstrate a talent, hobby, or something they could teach the class. Dylan chose to teach the class how to throw a baseball. Dylan showed the class; the fastball, change up, circle change, knuckle ball, screw ball, splitter, curve ball, 12 6 curve ball, and power curve ball. After his demonstration the kids were able to ask questions regarding his demonstration! Dylan was very proud of his demonstration that Dad helped him with. He spent several nights rehearsing

Kick ball - Super Hero night

This week brought The Super Hero's out for kick ball. We had a lot of Wonderwomen which made us ask.....Would the REAL Wonderwoman please stand up? We played at double header and ended up getting a free pizza night out of the deal! Not to bad for the CAPE CRUSADERS!!!! Beach week has been postponed because of the bad weather we've been having so I think it's dress like your favorite sports team night!!

Valley Days at Micke Grove Park- May 13, 2010

One of the most anticipated field trips of the year is Valley Days! I love Valley Days and so do my kids!!! I have been privileged to attend this field trip on 3 encounters and every time I go it just gets better and better. I prefer to work the laundry area (I guess it's what I'm good at)! Kids love pumping their water, and using the washboards. They learn that Monday is a washday and Tuesday is an ironing day. Other areas the kids get to go to are the leather stamping, tinning, wood works, ink press and gold mining. There are kids games and time for education in the old school house. Lunch time brings fun where the groups can mingle some and when the triangle is rung we know it's time to move to the next station! I love Valley Days and hopefully next year someone will need an extra volunteer!

What does colored cleats have to do with a 12 th Birthday?

For a couple months now Mo has been trying to persuade me that she "needs" colored cleats. I admit some of the arguments have been very convincing but I still wasn't perfectly clear why she needed the colored cleats. Does it make you run faster, score more goals or just overall increase your performance???? I know as well as everyone else it's just a thing to have and be cool with! SO I decided to have a little fun with Mo on her birthday, at least I thought so. I took an old pair of her cleats and spray painted them, then wrapped them in a new NIKE shoe box and gave them to her on her birthday! Excited at first, in fact elated might have been a better word for it. After a few seconds she started to examine them a little more closely and asked "why do they smell like paint?" Rob chimes in with "well that's how they get colored cleats, they take black ones and paint them!" Well of course they do!! I don't think that sat very well with her and she became a little upset thinking we were teasing her....... well, we were common! Little did she know there was a gift certificate in an envelope telling her she could go get her REAL colored cleats! We still haven't picked out her cleats but the time will come, I will have to update later which pair she chooses!!
The night ended positive with a dinner at Red Robin!!

Love you Mo and Happy 12th Birthday!

Character Matters 3 rd Grade Play

The annual 3rd grade play was an absolute success as usual! When you have a great teacher like Mrs. Crippen running the show it's no doubt to be a success! Dylan played the "Giant" for the skit Jack and the Beanstalk. He was the "perfect fit" if you ask me. He had a smaller amount of lines but I have to give him credit as he had to sing a SLOW solo on stage while looking at Jack. The first dress rehearsal or two were definitely needed to get it right. When it came to show time he did a perfect job!! Character Matters is based on the 6 pillars we practice at school including; trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring and citizenship. Each part of the play was filled with other fairy tales, and nursery rhymes to make the show very entertaining! Some of Dylan's friends were in the choir shown in the pictures. Rob did another bang up job video taping the play as well as the behind the scenes with commentary, hilarious! Other pictures are after the show with his friends, Cameron, Brady and Gabbi. We celebrated an outstanding performance by taking the kids to Baskin Robbins afterwards.

My kids are finally getting comfortable with shots!

So if you know my kids you know what fear they have of needles! I was getting tired of every Spring and Fall coming around having the kids endlessly sneezing, sore throats, watery eyes, nose etc. I decided to finally take them to an allergist to determine what the heck was bugging them! Mo ended up with the least amount of allergies, only testing positive to dust mites. Hmmmmmm, that sounds like something that's going to land on my lap as far as cleaning goes!! :)

As for Dylan, he ended up testing positive for just about everything imaginable; molds, pollens, trees, grasses and sesame seeds! So needless to say they are both going in for weekly injections for their allergies. That's one way to cure your phobia I guess? I know in the end they will thank me, at least I hope so!

Mother's Day for the Braves Mom's

Rob brought a dozen roses to the field for his players to give to their mom's in the 4 th innning! Each mom was so surprised and thankful. Only wished their was all of our moms their, we unfortunatley were missing two mommies. Coach Rob really, what a guy!

Mother's Day 2010

Mother's Day started off with a homemade cooked breakfast from Rob which was delicious! The kids helped out with some chores around the house and then made some brownies for us.
Later Rob took the kids to "Pump it Up" with some friends to bounce around and literally "jump off the walls" for a bit! My friends and I went to get a pedicure and then it was off to Chili's for dinner and a couple of beverages!
I have to say this is the best Mother's Day I've ever had! Thank you to my family and friends for making this a memorable day.....Love you guys!

Kickball "Retro Style"

Our 3rd kickball game brought us back in time! We dressed up from the 60,70 and 80's! We are 2-1 in the league and definitely have the most spirit of all the teams. Rob and I are enjoying the slightly competitive but mostly non stop laughter we get when we are out on the field with our friends.
Go Ball and Chains!
